The highest-paid doctor in Florida is not only the highest-earning doctor in the state, but the highest paid in Florida for a given year, according to the latest salary data released by the Florida Department of Health.
The data, released Monday by the state’s health department, showed that Dr. Jeffrey G. Rissel, MD, is paid $9,400 annually, or $24,700 per year.
The average salary for the medical field is $64,300 annually.
Dr. Risk, the only pediatric cardiologist in Florida, earned $8,900 annually.
The highest paid pediatric cardiology physician in Florida in 2016 was Dr. William L. Brown, MD.
Dr Risseld’s annual salary for 2016 was $3,600, which is slightly more than the average salary of $2,700 for pediatric cardiologists in the same year.
Dr Robert A. Zavala, MD earned $2.2 million annually, about $1.5 million more than Dr Rissels salary.
Dr Zavila was a cardiologist for nearly a decade before he retired in 2013, according, the health department.
Dr David C. Zilber, MD was paid $1,000,000 annually.
Dr C.V. Zillerman, MD received $1 million.
The department said it will publish the data next week.
The department does not release annual salary information for medical school graduates.
The most recent data from the Department of Healthcare Management, Health and Human Services showed that the average annual salary of a medical school graduate in Florida was $73,000.
Dr Brown earned $70,000 in salary, while Dr Risk earned $60,000 a year.
